DAYTON, Ohio - August 7, 2017 - The Dayton Power and Light Foundation today is presenting a Signature Grant of $100,000 to "close the gap" on the funding goal for the construction of the Levitt Pavilion Dayton, a new outdoor music amphitheater on Dave Hall Plaza. The venue will be host to 50 free, family-friendly concerts and cultural events annually, serving as a gathering place for community life that is easily accessible in the heart of downtown Dayton. With the ongoing revitalization of downtown, which includes new housing, dining, businesses and entertainment, the Levitt Pavilion is an anchor to the southern gateway into the city.
"DP&L is excited to support the transformation of the downtown core with developments that enhance the quality of life and foster economic growth. The Levitt Pavilion will be a catalyst to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together on a continuous basis and stimulate further investment in our city center. The Levitt Pavilion Dayton aligns with the DP&L Foundation's philosophy and is a welcome addition to make a difference in the lives of our customers, their families and the communities we serve," said DP&L President and CEO Tom Raga.
"We are thrilled that the DP&L Foundation's support has helped us achieve our goal to begin construction. We know that its customers from the greater Dayton region will enjoy the benefits of the Levitt Pavilion," said D. Jeff Ireland, Friends of Levitt Dayton Board Chair.
Since the DP&L Foundation was founded in 1985, it has awarded $36 million in grants. In conjunction with giving, DP&L employees volunteer more than 8,000 hours sharing time and talents with local area community organizations.
