DAYTON, Ohio - July 16, 2018 - The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), was honored with the Southeastern Electric Exchange's (S.E.E.) "Safety Performance Award for Top Performance for Fleet Safety" as the safest performer in 2017 amongst all member companies. DP&L received the award at S.E.E.'s 2018 Annual Conference and Trade Show held in Orlando, Florida.
The Safety Performance Award for Top Performance for Fleet Safety recognizes the participating member company that achieves the top (lowest) safety record for the year. DP&L's preventable vehicle accident rate was the best across all of the operating companies within S.E.E. during 2017. Companies track key performance data for vehicles, including miles driven and total accidents through the year to compute vehicle incident rates. Earning this award for their safety leadership among highly recognized peers in the utility industry is an honor.
"At DP&L, we have a strong safety culture and this award demonstrates the commitment and hard work our people model every day, at home, work and in their community", said Craig Jackson, DP&L President and CEO. "We lead with safety, and will remain focused on our goal of creating and sustaining a workplace free of incidents along with partnering with other utilities to help make the industry safer."
"S.E.E. member companies keep safety at the forefront of their day-to-day operations and also as they come together as an association", said Scott H. Smith, S.E.E. Executive Director. "Much information is shared between companies by their safety professionals during semi-annual meetings and they benchmark their safety performance, as all strive to be accident and incident free. We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate safety performance and successes and congratulate DP&L on their Fleet Safety record in 2017."
