Miami Valley Students explore energy at DP&L and Vectren Energy Fair

DAYTON, Ohio - February 26, 2019 - The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES), and Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio (Vectren) , a CenterPoint Energy Company, will host an energy fair for students from around the Miami Valley to learn cool ways to save energy on February 26-27, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Wright State University Student Union.

This year's Energy Fair gives 70 high school leaders an opportunity to instruct students in grades 4-6 on exploring energy through hands-on scientific experiments and demonstrations. The students learn valuable lessons about energy efficiency and conservation to share with their families. Attending leadership schools include: Oakwood High School, McClain High School, Valley View High School, Greeneview High School, Twin Valley South High School, and Lehman Catholic High School.

More than 275 students will attend the Energy Fair, facilitated by the Ohio Energy Project (OEP).

Area high school students will be teaching students from Edison Elementary School, Valley View Intermediate School, Greenmont Elementary School, Troy Christian School, Ascension, and South Vienna Elementary School.

Students will use Snap Circuits to demonstrate series and parallel circuits and an Energy Relay to test their knowledge on energy sources. The workshop also includes energy activities and carnival games on thermal energy, sound, light, and forces and motion.

The Energy Fair is part of DP&L's and Vectren's School Education Program facilitated by OEP throughout the school year. DP&L and Vectren have partnered with the Ohio Energy Project to provide a free energy efficiency education program for teachers, students and their families in the Miami Valley. The school program is part of DP&L's ongoing energy efficiency efforts for customers, which also include discounts on energy-efficient lighting, free refrigerator recycling, rebates on new heat pumps and air conditioners, and rebates for business customers.
