    Bath-Trebein 138kV reconductor project

tech - 3 electric towers at sunset Bath-Trebein 138kV reconductor project
AES Ohio has submitted an application to the Ohio Power Siting Board to upgrade equipment on the Bath-Trebein transmission line.

This project will provide improved grid reliability, operational flexibility, and operating capacity to the Dayton metro area by reconductoring the existing 138 kilovolt (kV) transmission that connects the Bath Substation to the Trebein Substation. Reconductoring is the process of replacing the wires on an electric circuit to allow it to carry greater electrical currents.

Specifically, the proposed project will help to prevent transmission system overloads in the Dayton metro area of the AES Ohio transmission system under various outage conditions, complying with mandatory Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)/ North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards.
