AES Ohio plans to install a second 345/69kV transformer at the Clinton Substation, located in Wilmington, Ohio.
This will also require the addition of three 345kV breakers to establish a ring bus, 69kV circuit breakers, and associated equipment. The project is needed to relieve operational loading and reliability concerns on the 69kV system in the area. Also, the project will help improve operational flexibility through the addition of the second transformer and line allowing AES Ohio to take outages in the area for maintenance while keeping a source into the Wilmington area. This project is also needed to help ensure deliverability of the planned solar generation expansions along the Stuart-Clinton 345kV corridor.
The Clinton Substation is located on 46 E Dalton Rd, east of SR-68, Wilmington, Clinton County, Ohio.
