AES Ohio has submitted an application to the Ohio Power Siting Board to expand the West Milton Substation in Miami County.
This project will provide improved grid reliability, operational flexibility, and operating capacity to the northern Dayton area by installing a second 345/138 kilovolt (kV) transformer and a second 138/69kV transformer at the West Milton Substation.
Specifically, the project will help to prevent transmission system overloads in the northern Dayton area of the AES Ohio transmission system under various outage conditions, complying with mandatory Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)/ North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards.
The West Milton Substation is located in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio.
