AES Ohio is proposing Fayette substation expansion 1 project, located in Jefferson Township, Fayette County, Ohio.

The proposed Fayette substation expansion 1 project is a necessary upgrade to support 1.5 GW of load growth in the Jeffersonville, Ohio area. Initial service is required by 2026, with additional transmission support by 2031. The proposed project involves expanding the existing Fayette substation, increasing the substation fence line from 19.7 acres to 21.3 acres, adding 1.6 acres. The expansion includes extending the existing 345-kilovolt (kV) ring bus to install eight additional 345 kV circuit breakers with four open future circuit breaker positions. Two 138 kV circuit breakers and two 64.8 megavolt amps reactive (MVAR) capacitor banks will also be installed. These enhancements will support new load demands while increasing capacity, flexibility and redundancy.
