AES Ohio partners with the University of Dayton Arena to power championship practices and games with renewable energy

March 18, 2024

AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), announced today for the third consecutive year, the company will partner with the University of Dayton to ensure all practices and games for the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First Four® are powered by renewable energy.

As part of the company’s commitment to accelerating the future of energy, AES Ohio will purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) and apply them toward incremental energy usage at the University of Dayton Arena facilities for pre-game events, practices and First Four games. Renewable energy is electricity produced from resources – like the sun, wind, water and more – that do not pollute the environment. Technology advances have made renewable energy more accessible for AES Ohio customers.

“The Dayton Region has the most passionate college basketball fans, AES Ohio is excited to provide safe, reliable and green energy to power the First Four games,” said Tom Raga, AES Ohio President. “Since 2012, we’ve partnered with local organizers to help make this week’s experience inviting for attendees, and we will continue to advance sustainability efforts throughout our community.”
