AES Ohio preparing for summer storm season, urging customers to plan ahead

June 17, 2025

AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), encourages customers to prepare for the summer storm season. Summer is a time for outdoor activities, but the season can also bring unpredictable severe and dangerous weather. Lightning strikes can cause damage to electric equipment, and gusty winds can break tree branches that land on power lines. In some cases, flash flooding may cause electrical hazards and service disruptions.

The Climate Prediction Center (CPC), a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), anticipates a hot summer for 2025, with unseasonably hot weather temperatures during June, July and August. This leads to a higher probability of strong storms including more heat events with hotter temperatures starting earlier and ending later.
