AES Ohio recognizes National Lineworker Appreciation Day: April 18

April 18, 2024

Today is National Lineworker Appreciation Day, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), honors our hard-working men and women who work in challenging conditions year-round and the difficult work they do to keep the lights on for customers in West Central Ohio. National Lineworker Appreciation Day is celebrated each year on April 18 to recognize the hard work, innovation and dedication of America's electrical lineworkers.

The lineworker apprenticeship takes four years of 8,159 hours of extensive field training, classroom learning and testing. Lineworkers successfully and safely complete rigorous training and testing so they are experts in the field to better serve the needs of our customers. Lineworkers are constantly adapting to updated safety measures, even returning to school annually to ensure proper protocol is followed. They are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing the infrastructure that carries electricity to homes, businesses, schools, hospitals and facilities that power our communities and lives. Becoming a lineworker takes pride, a good attitude, the ability to make impactful decisions, sacrifice and a strong work ethic.

One of AES Ohio’s tenured and former line workers has continued his passion for the profession by developing future lineworkers at local county career centers for the past 16 years. Enrollment averages 43 students per year with an 89% completion rate. He was awarded the Friend of Education recognition for his dedication and instilling a commitment to safety.

AES Ohio has won multiple Emergency Recovery, Mutual Assistance and Safety Performance awards from the Edison Electric Institute for outstanding leadership and service in the electric power industry. AES Ohio invites the community to honor lineworkers by taking a moment to thank them for their dedication.
