Focusing on community engagement and environmental conservation
AES Ohio teams up with Five Rivers MetroParks for annual “Day in the Park” volunteer event
October 1, 2025
Today, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), is proud to announce its annual “Day in the Park” employee volunteer event. This day of service highlights the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and active community involvement throughout the Miami Valley. Launched five years ago, AES Ohio Day in the Park is the company’s largest and most visible community service initiative. In partnership with Five Rivers MetroParks, employees volunteer each year to preserve and enhance local green spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.
“Each year our employees look forward to the AES Ohio Day in the Park and contributing positively to the communities we serve,” said Tom Raga, president of AES Ohio. “We take pride in giving back and strengthening our community connections. Five Rivers MetroParks is a great partner and demonstrates the importance of preserving natural areas we can all enjoy.”
This year’s event takes place at Eastwood MetroPark in Dayton, a 437-acre park featuring a 185-acre lake. The park offers a variety of recreational activities including boating, fishing, and kayaking. Thanks to the Mad River Run project, the park now features a new whitewater attraction, improved fishing access, and restored riverbank habitats. AES Ohio volunteers will take part in park maintenance activities that include planting trees, repairing and painting bikeway fences, and assisting with the Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience. These tasks support sustainability and community infrastructure.
The annual event brings together AES Ohio employees to work on park restoration projects, local ecosystem support, and sustainable growth. Past events have included revitalizing the Five Rivers MetroParks affected by the 2019 tornadoes and restoring wetlands at the Spring Run Conservation Area.
