Sixth annual “Day in the Park” brings more than 100 employees and retirees together to support local green spaces

AES Ohio volunteers to plant 3,000 trees at Possum Creek MetroPark

October 20, 2026

Today, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) will have more than 100 volunteers roll up their sleeves at Possum Creek MetroPark to plant 3,000 trees during the company’s sixth annual Day in the Parks.

The company-wide day of service, held in partnership with Five Rivers MetroParks, will help restore local ecosystems, manage invasive species and support the long-term health of one of the valued Miami Valley’s local parks and preservation areas.

“For six years, Day in the Parks has brought our people together around an event that is deeply personal, giving back to the communities we are proud to call home,” said AES Ohio President Tom Raga. “Our volunteers genuinely want to make a difference, and working alongside Five Rivers MetroParks gives us a meaningful way to care for these treasured green spaces and leave a lasting gift for generations to come.”

Day in the Parks is AES Ohio’s largest employee volunteer event. Since the initiative began, employees and retirees have returned each year to care for the Miami Valley’s green spaces through projects such as planting trees, repairing and painting bikeway fences, maintaining gardens, restoring parks damaged by the 2019 tornadoes and supporting wetland conservation at the Spring Run Conservation Area. Together, these hands-on efforts strengthen local parks while building teamwork and pride through service.

“Five Rivers MetroParks is excited to partner with AES Ohio once again for the annual Day in the Parks employee service event, said Jenny Hymans, Five Rivers MetroParks Human Resource Manager. “Since 2021, AES Ohio has been supporting park projects that make a difference. This year, they'll be helping us plant up to 3,000 trees at Possum Creek MetroPark, restoring vital native species to this space."

Through volunteer service and community partnerships, AES Ohio creates lasting benefits across West Central Ohio. Day in the Parks reflects the company’s commitment to being a neighbor in energy and helping communities thrive.
