  • $1 million of additional funding to the Gift of Power Program assisting residential customers.

AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), has received approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) of the settlement in its distribution rate review for investments made from 2020 to 2024.The approval paves the way for the Company’s ongoing commitment to maintain and improve safety, reliability, and resiliency while expanding support for residential customers in need.

“The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s approval of our Distribution Rate Review demonstrates the collaborative efforts of all parties and the Commission Staff that made this outcome possible. The approval ensures AES Ohio can continue delivering safe, reliable service especially after major storms,” stated Tom Raga, president of AES Ohio. “We are proud of the value we provide our customers, and AES Ohio’s distribution rates remain among the lowest for investor-owned utilities in Ohio.”

AES Ohio will continue its disciplined approach to cost controls to maintain affordability and sustain high-quality service while preparing for future demand. As a result of the PUCO approval, a monthly bill for a residential Standard Service Offer (SSO) customer using 1,000 kWh will increase approximately 9%. For comparison purposes, the increase is well below the Consumer Price Index for the same period of 2020 to 2024.

AES Ohio remains committed to helping customers manage their bills by offering flexible payment options and energy savings ideas. The Company has also committed an additional $1 million in funding to the Gift of Power, which provides assistance to residential customers who are unable to pay their electric bills. Since 2013, AES Ohio has assisted nearly 5,000 customers through the Gift of Power program, ensuring families and individuals receive necessary aid.

A copy of the approval is available on the PUCO docket under Case No. 24-1009-EL-AIR.
