March 23, 2022

AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), is bringing the energy to downtown Dayton with the announcement of a premier lighting sponsorship with the Dayton Arcade. The historic Arcade has never seen a lighting concept of this scale highlighting the beautiful interior and exterior architectural features as well as setting the stage for events that will be attracting visitors from all over the globe.

“AES Ohio is honored to be a part of the newest chapter of the Dayton Arcade’s rich history by sponsoring the interior and exterior lighting of this innovation hub,” said Brandi Davis-Handy, Chief Public Relations Officer, AES Ohio. “This new lighting feature will attract both residents and visitors and truly shine light on the innovators and entrepreneurs who are driving change right in the heart of downtown Dayton.”

The Arcade, an anchor in downtown Dayton’s central business district opened more than a century ago as one of the country’s most modern and complete structures of its kind. Today, refreshed and revitalized, the Arcade is nurturing Dayton’s bright creative future, and driving change and economic growth.

“We are grateful to AES Ohio for the generous lighting sponsorship for the Dayton Arcade. Lighting is one of the most important elements in any development project, and we are excited that the sponsorship from AES Ohio will allow for some dramatic enhancements here at the Arcade,” said Dave Williams, Director of Development for Cross Street Partners.

Shuttered for almost 30 years, the Dayton Arcade’s redevelopment brings new life and investment into downtown Dayton. This project was coined as “the most transformational project in America”. The Arcade’s 90-foot diameter glass Rotunda serves as interior connector for all nine buildings in the complex encompassing almost a full city block. Its creative partners and tenants have access to various resources and amenities to foster collaboration, community and innovation. Open to all, the Arcade is a mix of retail, offices, event space and housing with a multi-phase development plan.

About the Dayton Arcade

Cross Street Partners, Model Group, and McCormack Baron Salazar are redeveloping the historic Dayton Arcade, a collection of nine buildings totaling over 500,000 SF in the heart of downtown Dayton’s central business district. The full development plan will recast the Arcade in much the same way it was initially developed in the first decade of the 20th century—with a mix of retail, offices, event space and housing. The first phase of the project, the South Arcade, will consist of an innovation center with the University of Dayton as a higher education partner. Included in the South Arcade are 110-unit residential LIHTC and market rate development for artists and creative entrepreneurs, a shared commercial kitchen program, multiple event spaces, and food and beverage-focused retail. The second phase, the North Arcade, will include a marketplace retail and restaurant environment as well as a boutique hotel.
