  • Annually, AES Ohio, its employees, and customers donate to help families

AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), proudly announces the launch of the eleventh annual Gift of Power program, and its commitment to supporting Miami Valley families facing financial hardship and unable to pay their energy bill. This year, AES Ohio will contribute $1 million to the 2026 Gift of Power campaign, bringing its total support since 2015 to $2.5 million. Additionally, generous donations from our employees and customers have exceeded $603,000. This reflects the compassion and kindness our community consistently shows by coming together to support families facing difficult times.

“AES Ohio is dedicated to providing support to our community during times of need. Our $1 million contribution to the 2026 Gift of Power program is one way we demonstrate our commitment to keeping the lights on for our customers in need,” stated Tom Raga, AES Ohio President. “The program reflects the positive impact of community collaboration in the Miami Valley. We appreciate The Salvation Army's partnership in facilitating meaningful assistance to individuals experiencing financial challenges throughout the Miami Valley.”

For more than a decade, the Gift of Power program has provided emergency relief to families struggling with energy bills due to unexpected events such as job loss, medical emergencies, or other financial challenges. To date, the program has assisted nearly 5,000 families, impacting more than 11,000 individuals across the region.

AES Ohio’s partnership with The Salvation Army has been essential to the program’s success. The Salvation Army staff handle donations, meet individually with families to assess their needs, and ensure that every dollar donated stays within the local community. “We are honored to collaborate with The Salvation Army, an organization whose mission of ‘meeting human needs’ closely aligns with the objectives of the Gift of Power program,” added Raga.

The Gift of Power is designed to assist those who do not qualify for traditional Ohio Energy Assistance programs, providing one-time support to overcome temporary financial setbacks. Applications open in January and run through December, ensuring year-round access to help. AES Ohio encourages customers to participate by donating through special envelopes included in their monthly bills or online at aes-ohio.com/gift. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference for families in need throughout the region.

AES Ohio has powered the Miami Valley for more than 110 years, serving as a trusted community partner and neighbor. Through initiatives like Gift of Power, AES Ohio continues its legacy of uplifting local families and supporting the community’s evolving needs.
