Millcreek to Customer 138kV Transmission Line Project 1A
The Millcreek to Customer 138kV Transmission Line Project 1A is part of the necessary upgrades to support the increased capacity requirements driven by load growth from large customer projects in Shelby County, Ohio area. AES Ohio proposes to construct two permanent 138 kilovolt (kV) lines connecting the proposed Millcreek Substation Expansion to the customer substation. The lines are approx. 0.30 miles in length with 100–150 foot right-of-way (ROW) (Approximately 5 acres). The proposed 138kV transmission lines will be installed within AES Ohio or the customer owner property stating at the north side of the Millcreek Substation and terminating at the proposed customer substation. Approximately 50 feet of transmission line is proposed to be installed in the road ROW, with 1,000 feet on customer owner property, and 400 feet on AES owned property.
Why is this project needed?
AES Ohio is investing in network enhancements driven by large customer projects in the Shelby County, Ohio area. To meet this need, AES Ohio is proposing the Millcreek to Customer 138kV Transmission Line Project 1A in Shelby County, Ohio. This network enhancement will serve the new load and provide increased capacity, flexibility, and resiliency to the northeast region of AES Ohio’s service territory.

AES Ohio expects to submit an application for a “Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need” to the Ohio Power Siting Board in the fall of 2026. At that time, the Project will be provided with a case number from the Public Utility Commission of Ohio and additional information about the Project will become available on the Ohio Power Siting Board website.
