AES Ohio Gift of Power helps local families stay warm this winter

November 4, 2021

Today, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), begins the seventh year of the Gift of Power program to lend a hand to those needing assistance paying their winter heating bills. AES Ohio’s contribution of $50,000 along with generous donations from customers and employees keeps the power on for families, friends and neighbors throughout our 24-county service territory. All donations are administered by The Salvation Army and every dollar stays local.

Since 2015, contributions totaling more than one million dollars have provided financial relief to more than 3,000 local families. “Anyone can get behind on their bills when the unexpected happens, but with Gift of Power we can help customers get back on track and keep their homes warm and the lights on during the coldest months of the year,” said Kristina Lund, AES Ohio President and CEO. “We sincerely thank our AES Ohio employees and customers for helping to address community needs when our neighbors need us the most.”

The Gift of Power program helps AES Ohio customers who have recently suffered a financial hardship, such as the loss of a spouse, loss of a job or major medical bills, but are just above the income guidelines for other Ohio Energy Assistance programs. The distribution of program funds begins the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 18, 2022) and runs through April 15, 2022 or until funds are exhausted.

AES Ohio customers have the power to help those in need by completing the special donation envelope in their monthly bill or contributing online at aes-ohio.com/gift.
